Global policy calls for braiding Indigenous and Local Knowledge (ILK) with science. Bridging the “knowing-doing gap” to move from policy to practice remains the key challenge. This session moves beyond documenting what ILK is to establish how to build more equitable and effective conservation. We will address key barriers, from institutional parachute science to our central hypothesis: pluralistic ignorance. This is the social trap where stakeholders privately support ILK but remain silent. This collective silence forms a powerful, invisible barrier to change. We invite contributions that offer concrete solutions to transcend these barriers and truly integrate these pluralistic knowledge systems. Our goal is to build an evidence-based roadmap for a more just and truly effective conservation.
