Subtheme: 3. Innovation for more and better cycling (tourism)
What are the most relevant investments in cycling? This session provides concrete examples of decision-making and implementation models for quality cycle routes, while looking at the most recent innovations in route development. The discussion will focus on planning and infrastructure, with the aim of sharing ideas for optimising the available budgets to make a difference, while adapting to the local context and resources.

Biography
Anouk van Eekelen is Director Destination at VVV Nederland, the Dutch association of tourist information and destination marketing organisations. She works closely with DMOs and CMOs across the Netherlands, where cycling plays a key role in tourism and sustainable destination development. Previously a local and regional politician, Anouk studied Public Administration at Leiden University.

He is a certified EuroVelo inspector and has extensive experience in strategic planning, investment projects, and destination development, working with municipalities, tourism organizations, and private sector partners across Croatia and internationally.

Biography
Kathleen Lumma has been the Managing Director of the ADFC (German Cyclists`Association) Baden-Württemberg since 2016. The organization is committed to consistently promoting cycling for both everyday mobility and leisure. She studied Tourism Management and Tourism Destination Management at Harz University of Applied Sciences. From 2012 onward, she worked as a tourism officer for ADFC Baden-Württemberg, where she advocated for the expansion and optimization of cycle tourism in Baden-Württemberg. As a project consultant in regional marketing, particularly in active tourism, she gained further experience in tourism management.

Biography
Key specialist in the Mazovian Office for Regional Planning, member of the Green Mazovia Association, lecturer at Vistula University. Specializes in sustainable transport, with particular emphasis on pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Coordinated the preparation of detailed preliminary documentation of cycle routes in the Mazovia region.

Jeroen van Noort is Manager of the Routebureau Utrecht (Route Management Agency). Commissioned by the Province of Utrecht and 26 municipalities, the Routebureau coordinates the signage of route networks for cycling, walking, and boating. Core tasks include maintenance and quality control, development, and communication with residents and visitors.
